GROUNDSKEEPER/HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The Town of Dover Park and Recreation Commission and Department of Public Works seeks a full-time Groundskeeper/Heavy Equipment Operator. Duties include, but are not limited to, upkeep of grounds, sports fields, and buildings; maintenance of operating equipment; snow and ice removal and clean-up, and operation of heavy and light equipment.

The Groundskeeper will maintain equipment including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, tractors and trucks and perform small engine repair and assist with snow and ice clean-up including operating snow removal and sanding vehicles. Other duties include assisting in emergency highway repairs, other public works repairs, and other emergencies as needed. The position requires the operation of heavy and light equipment such as front-end loaders, backhoes, snow plows, sanders, trucks and other equipment necessary for completion of projects.

The individual will work under the general direction of the Director of Public Works or other designated supervisor.

High school diploma and experience with grounds and highway maintenance procedures is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (B) and Hoisting License (2A and 4G) are required.

This is a 40 hour per week, fully benefited position with an expected hiring range between $26.24 and $29.23 per hour according to Grade 6 of the Local 1116 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Hours of work are 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays, and additional overtime hours for snow & ice removal and as required by the DPW Director.
