Full-time, hourly, 40 hours per week

Clark University’s Facilities Management division seeks to fill two Groundskeeper Positions. Reporting to the Superintendent of Grounds, the successful candidate is responsible for providing a safe and productive environment for all students, faculty and staff; responsible for all phases of landscape, hardscape, municipal and athletic maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete small landscape/hardscape construction projects including, tree/limb removal and paving repairs/installation, irrigation, sod cutting/installation.
  • Routine and municipal tasks include trash pickup and removal, parking lot maintenance, exterior signage, employing crowd/traffic control devices and equipment, clearing storm drains, loading/unloading trucks, equipment repair, snow removal and severe storm response.
  • Support Athletics by providing equipment setup, field striping, game/event support.
  • Performs work adhering to Facilities Management departmental standards and the best practices, procedures and techniques of the landscaping and grounds keeping professions; performs work from work orders and at the direction of the Grounds Superintendent and/or his/her designee.
  • As a member of cross functional team, play an important role in major University events, including Commencement, Reunion and Open Houses.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years’ landscaping or grounds experience, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • The incumbent must have knowledge of and ability to use the various tools, practices terminology and safety precautions of the landscaping, grounds keeping and municipal professions.
  • Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to work independently, with direct supervision and as part of a team.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License, required.
  • Preferred qualifications include Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License, Massachusetts 1C/2B Hoisting Licenses, Massachusetts (MDAR) Pesticide Applicator License.
  • Must have ability to lift 75lbs, bend, stoop and twist on a daily basis; able to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time; able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Proficient in computer applications, such as Word, Excel, CMMS, Email (Outlook) and common web based applications.
  • This position is considered essential personnel and will be expected to report to work during emergency closings and may be required to work occasional evenings, weekends or holidays to respond to University events, facility related incidents or urgent needs.
  • Able to maintain a positive, professional relationship with all members of the Clark Community.
