The Facilities Management department is seeking an individual to join our team as an Athletic Playing Surfaces Manager overseeing athletic grounds and playing surfaces. This position is primarily assigned to our Gorham Campus and plays a significant role in our recruitment and retention efforts by keeping our playing surfaces in their best condition. This position works in partnership with our Athletics department to provide maintenance and services for an exceptional student and community experience. This is a full-time regular position.
The Facilities Maintenance Manager will supervise employees assigned to athletic field and facilities maintenance by prioritizing, assigning, and scheduling work; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures, and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment. This position will ultimately be responsible for all things related to athletic playing surfaces primarily on the Gorham campus for events, projects, and maintenance. This position will work to promote a strong and cohesive team that supports the University’s student focused every day service promise on all USM campuses.

The work schedule will be set based on the season and events taking place and will include night and weekend coverage based on playing surface needs. It is possible the schedule will change seasonally based on demand and use of facilities.

• Sports Field Certification(s) (example: STMA Certified Sports Field Manager, Sports Turfgrass Certification, etc)
• Experience working in a higher education environment.
